Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi receives the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar in Vietnam

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi met and worked with Mr. Khalid Ali Abdullah Abel, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar in Vietnam on September 6th, in presence of leaders of units under the  Ministry of Construction (MoC) and officials of the Qatar Embassy in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Ambassador Khalid Ali Abdullah Abel expressed his joy about the good development in the cooperative relationship between the Governments and people of Vietnam and Qatar over the past 30 years, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1993-2023). He also wishes the cooperative relations between two countries would further expand in many fields, including construction.

 Sharing Qatar's experience in the process of building a technical infrastructure system to serve for 2022 World Cup, Ambassador Khalid Ali Abdullah Abel also appreciated the contributions of Vietnamese businesses in building large projects to serve this event. The Ambassador respectfully invited Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi to attend the “Exhibition and conference on new construction services and technology" would be held in Doha on September 16-18,2023.

On the occasion of the Emir of Qatar's official visit to Vietnam in November, Ambassador Khalid Ali Abdullah Abel proposed the Ministry of Construction to actively exchange, discuss, and sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in further strengthening the cooperation relationship between the Ministry of Construction and the Qatar Embassy as well as agencies of the Government and State of Qatar.

Welcoming Ambassador Khalid Ali Abdullah Abel to visit and work with the Ministry of Construction, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi expressed his impression of the organization of the 2022 World Cup with modern and synchronous infrastructure system which opened up many opportunities for Vietnamese construction enterprises to approach and strengthen cooperation, project implementation in Qatar. Therefore, the Ministry of Construction welcomes Qatar to organize the "Exhibition and conference on new construction services and technologies" and will pass this information to businesses for participating.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi also agreed with Ambassador Khalid Ali Abdullah Abel's proposal to strengthen the cooperative relationship between the Ministry of Construction and the Embassy and agencies of the Qatar Government; assigned the Department of International Cooperation as a focal point to exchange and discuss with agencies under the Qatar Embassy in Vietnam on issues of mutual interest and signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi also said that from September 8-9^th,2023, the Ministry of Construction would organize the "Exhibition of Architecture Integration and Development" (EXPO Architecture 2023) in Phu Quoc city, Kien Giang province, with the theme "Architecture - Creating sustainable space for the community". This is the first big architectural event held in Vietnam, so the Ministry of Construction hopes the Ambassador to attend.

The Ministry of Construction with its functions and tasks, always paid attention to and created favorable conditions for international businesses, including Qatar businesses to promote cooperation and investment in Vietnam, within the framework of current Vietnamese law, said Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi hopes that the Ambassador  has a good health and succeeds to further promote the cooperative relationship between the Ministry of Construction and agencies under the Qatar Government in particular and between the Governments of two countries Vietnam – Qatar in general.
