The People’s Committee of Soc Trang Province held a ground-breaking ceremony for the Lac Hoa and Hoa Dong wind power plants in Hoa Dong Commune, Vinh Chau Town, on September 26.

The two wind power plants received a total investment of over VND2 trillion (US$86.1 million) and have a total capacity of 60MW. The two investors of the plants are Wind Power Lac Hoa Co.,Ltd and Wind Power Hoa Dong Co.,Ltd.
These are the first two onshore wind power projects in Soc Trang Province and they are expected to provide 221,500MWh of electricity to the national grid through the 110kV transmission lines.
Vice Chairman of Soc Trang Provincial People's Committee Lam Hoang Nghiep said that the two wind power projects will help to take advantage of wind resources, contributing to reducing environmental pollution, promoting tourism, and creating jobs for local people.
The two plants are scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2021.
Earlier, on September 25, the construction of wind power plant No.7, with a total capacity of 120MW, commenced in Vinh Chau Town.
