Deputy Minister Phan Thi My Linh spoke opening the Conference

Opening the conference, on behalf of the MOC’s leaders and the Coordination Committee of Vietnam Urban Forum, Deputy Minister Phan Thi My Linh thanked state authorities, internal and external organizations for their concern about urban management and development in general and buidling green city in Vietnam in particular. According to Mrs. Linh, the National Strategy on green growth in the period of 2011 – 2020, a vision to 2050 clarifies green growth as a top priority to develop Vietnam sustainably. In recent years, with approximately 70% of GDP, urban system in Vietnam is the dynamics to develop economy in many regions and enhance citizens’ life quality and condition.

Deputy Minister Linh stated that the Ministry and key members of Vietnam Urban Forum, being aware of the importance of building green city to the country sustainable development, put in considerable effort to implement the National Strategy on green growth.

The Conference participants

The conference on building up urban green growth in Vietnam 2015, with a lot of presentaions (such as: “Policy coherence for cities: The mission of the OECD urban programme”, “Developing Vietnam green growth strategy and implementation roadmap in the context of rapid urbanization in Asia – Pacific region”,…) is a wonderful chance to share knowledge and practical experience in building green growth urban between Vietnam Urban Forum members and leading organizations in green growth; open up opportunity to cooperate and support bilaterally and multilaterally.

Deputy Minister Phan Thi My Linh evaluated those presentations as a whole picture of green growth both in the world and in Vietnam, offerring different approaches to green growth, helping Vietnam and the MOC implement the National Strategy on green growth approved by the Prime Minister and the Plan to develop green city approved by the MOC.
