Open up cooperative opportunities between Vietnam Ministry of Construction and Korea Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation

Hanoi (June 3rd, 2015) – Deputy Minister Pham Hong Ha received the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation (MLIT) missions led by Deputy Minister Son Tae Rak at the head office of the Ministry of Construction.

Deputy Minister Phạm Hong Ha warmly welcomed the Korea MLIT missions to the MOC, and expressed his pleasure at close relation between Vietnam and Korea, especially after signing Strategic partnership in 2009.

With the FTA (free trade agreement) signed recently, Mr. Ha believed the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries would further develop, expressing political trust and mutual desire between the two governments.

Korea has become the leading partner of Vietnam in terms of attracting FDI, ODA in commerce and investment. Vietnam – Korea comprehensive cooperation has met the bilateral needs and interests, helping Vietnam develop socio-economy.

Deputy Minister Pham Hong Ha also thanked Korean Government, Korean Embassy in Vietnam for helping the Vietnam Ministry of Construction complete tasks assigned by Vietnamese Government. He trusted that this event would open up development opportunities for the two Ministry in coming time.

During the session, Deputy Minister Ha discussed with the Korea MLIT missions about some areas (such as forming legal framework, mechanisms and policies on urban – rural development, housing and real estate market and hoped to learn experience from the Korea MLIT. He stated that Vietnam wanted to study Korean experience in developing (new) rural areas, especially rural infrastructure (which caught up to modernity yet kept itsown identity. Vietnam legalism and mechanism in housing and real estate market, according to Mr. Ha, were adequate and synchronous, while there was inadequate policies on increasing houses, especially social houses for low and medium income people such asworkers in industrial zones and students. In addition, Vietnam want to develop special house for those suffered from disasters in the Central region and the Mekong Delta…

Deputy Minister supposed cooperation forms, such assharing experience, orginzing discussion and workshop, or bilateral MoU, cooperation agreements.

In response, the Deputy Minister of Korea MLIT thanked Vietnamese Government in general and the MOC in particular, and confirmed that Vietnam had great development potential. Combining Vietnam edvelopment potential with Korean experiences would bring benefits for the two countries.

As for Mr. Ha’s supposals, Deputy Minister Son Tae Rak agreed that Korea had experienced difficulties in urban – rural development in terms of forming policies. Despite of Korean certain achievement in related fields, providing houses for rural areas is still a problem for Korean Government. Mr. Son Tae Rak introduced Korean Construction Counselor and LH Coporate as two long-lasting partners sharing relevant experience for Vietnam.

As for ODA supposal for social housing projects, on behalf of Korea Government, Mr. Son Tae Rak promised to consider and support Vietnam.

Deputy Minister Pham Hong Ha thanked Deputy Minister Son Tae Rak for his opinions and support, and assigned relevant units to fulfill these agreements. He believed the cooperation between the two ministries would further develop.
