Annual conference 2014 on the Vietnam Urban Forum

On June 27, 2014 in Hanoi, Vietnam Urban Forum (VUF) held the Annual conference 2014 with the chairmanship of the Minister of Construction Trinh Dinh Dung - the forum’s president; Victoria Kwakwa - World Bank (WB) country director for Vietnam - the forum’s co-president; Dr. Pham Xuan Duong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Economic Affairs attended and speech on VUF. 

Conference attendees also had the participation of representatives of the Office of the National Assembly, Government Office, the central authorities, leaders of the Ministry of Construction, the unit under the Ministry of Construction and 100 delegates are members of the Vietnam Urban Forum.

The conference discussed the contents as: improve the quality and efficiency of implementation of the objectives and tasks of the Vietnam Urban Forum for Policy Dialogue urban development on the basis of the strategic plan of the Forum unified organizational structure has been strengthened by the Forum. Discuss problems promoting the role of partners and stakeholders in policy dialogue urban development. Vietnam Urban Forum before the new opportunities and challenges, consult members on priority activities of the Forum.

Minister of Construction Trinh Dinh Dung, the forum’s president, stated that the Vietnamese urban system has been developing and is a driving force behind national construction and development.

Kwakwa – the forum’s co-president - said Vietnam is a developing country and its urbanisation must be implemented effectively to contribute to economic development. Effective urbanisation will optimise human, land, and capital resources, spur social welfare, and remove barriers to development.

At the conference, President VUF was awarded a certificate of recognition for 06 new members participate in the Forum.
