Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy delivered the opening speech at the VRT & CONS 2025 Exhibition.
He emphasized that the 13th National Party Congress identified the strategic goal for Vietnam to become a modern industrial country by 2030 and a developed country by 2045. To realize this aspiration, infrastructure development, particularly transport infrastructure has been defined as a key objective. The implementation of the planning of 5 transport sectors in recent times has achieved positive results, especially the development of the system of highways, airports, seaports, etc.
Railways are identified as the most important mode of transport, the main artery of inland transport, and the only fundamental solution to solve urban traffic congestion. Therefore, Conclusion 49 of the Politburo on the Railway Transport Development Strategy has determined the goal of Vietnam investing in a modern national railway system and a complete urban railway network in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Railways are also a fundamental solution to switch to using green, clean fuels, gradually implementing Vietnam's commitment to achieving net-zero emission by 2050. Investing in railways requires huge resources in terms of finance, human resources and a system of modern supply chain manufacturing enterprises.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Vietnam Helga Margarete Barth affirmed that Germany is ready to share experiences and cooperate with Vietnam in railway development.
Speaking at the Exhibition, Ms. Helga Margarete Barth said that Germany has a history of developing modern railways, both in terms of track technology and maintenance and operation. Germany is ready to share experiences and cooperate with Vietnam in building modern railways, meeting the needs of regional connectivity, green transformation, and economic development.
