On July 2nd, 2026, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tuong Van received and held talks with Yanet Vazquez Valdes, Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba. The meeting was also attended by Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba Yanet Vazquez Valdes thanked the leaders of the Ministry of Construction for their warm welcome. She also highly praised Vietnam's remarkable socio-economic achievements in recent years, particularly its experience in implementing economic reforms, improving the institutional and legal framework, enhancing the investment climate, and mobilizing resources to support national development.

Deputy Minister Yanet Vazquez Valdes stated that Cuba is currently actively implementing a reform program aimed at effectively mobilizing all available resources to promote economic growth and national development. In this context, Cuba is keen to learn from Vietnam's experience in formulating and improving institutions and policies for socio-economic development, attracting foreign investment, and enhancing the effectiveness of state governance across various sectors.
Welcoming Deputy Minister Yanet Vazquez Valdes, Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, and other members of the Cuban delegation to the Ministry of Construction, Deputy Minister Nguyen Tuong Van expressed his confidence that the visit would further strengthen the special solidarity, traditional friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.

Van highly appreciated the reform efforts undertaken by the Communist Party and the Government of Cuba to advance the country's economic development. He affirmed that the Ministry of Construction is always ready to share Vietnam's practical experience in the fields of construction, urban and regional planning, infrastructure development, and transportation, thereby supporting Cuba in improving its institutional framework and policies, as well as promoting its socio-economic development.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Tuong Van and Deputy Minister Yanet Vazquez Valdes also discussed contents for the upcoming session of the Vietnam–Cuba Intergovernmental Committee. They reviewed the progress of ongoing cooperation initiatives and agreed to continue close coordination in promoting cooperation in economic, trade, and investment activities, while expanding collaboration in areas that align with the strengths and potential of both countries.
