From June 9-12, 2026, in Dushanbe (Republic of Tajikistan), a delegation from the Ministry of Construction, led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy, attended the 53rd Session of the Ministerial Conference of the Organization for Cooperation between Railways (OSJD). The delegation included Mr. Dang Sy Manh, Chairman of the Board of Members of Vietnam Railways Corporation.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of OSJD, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Kohir Rasulzoda, and the Chairman of the OSJD Committee, Mirosław Antonowicz, delivered welcoming speeches to the delegates attending the session.
At the conclusion of the session, Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy, authorized by the Minister of Construction, signed the Minutes of the 53rd Session of the OSJD Conference of Ministers.

Over the past seven decades, OSJD has continuously developed and become one of the most important international railway cooperation organizations across the Eurasian region, making significant contributions to the establishment of unified legal, technical, and economic frameworks for international rail transport.
Shortly after OSJD was founded in Sofia in 1956, Viet Nam joined the Organization and has since remained an active and responsible member of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways.

For Viet Nam, its association with the Organization for Cooperation between Railways (OSJD) began even before the Organization was formally established. On 19th July 1955, at the International Railway Transport Conference held in Berlin, Viet Nam joined the international railway transport cooperation system established under the Agreements on International Passenger and Freight Transport by Rail.
On 1st August 1955, the international railway route linking Hanoi - Beijing - Moscow - Berlin was officially opened. In mid-August 1955, the first international train from Beijing arrived at Hanoi Station, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Viet Nam’s history of international connectivity.
Representatives from Vietnam Railways Corporation and Tajikistan Railways signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote and increase the volume of international intermodal rail freight transport between the two countries.
During his working visit to Tajikistan, Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy chaired a meeting with Mr. Mirzoali Komil, Director General of Tajik Railways, to discuss measures for strengthening railway cooperation between the two countries. He also witnessed the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Vietnam Railways Corporation and Tajik Railways, aimed at promoting and increasing the volume of international railway freight transport between the two nations.
The delegation also conducted a site visit to Dushanbe Railway Station. The history of the station is closely associated with the construction of the Termez–Dushanbe railway line, which was completed in 1929, with the first train arriving in Dushanbe on 10th September 1929. After the Republic of Tajikistan gained independence in 1991, the station underwent modernization and has since maintained its role as the capital’s main railway hub, serving international rail connections with Russia and Uzbekistan and facilitating cross-border railway transport.
