According to the Prime Minister's Decision and the direction of the Ministry of Construction, the goal of the Long Thanh International Airport project phase 1 is "basically completed, ensuring standards and conditions for inauguration according to regulations in December 19th, 2025". To meet that schedule, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has urgently coordinated with Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), Air Traffic Management Engineering Company Limited (ATTECH) and Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) to carry out flight inspection, calibration and assessment of flight methods at Long Thanh airport.

This work aims to fully meet international standards on safety and efficiency in operation, and is also a key technical task, required before the airport officially goes into commercial operation, expected in 2026.

So, from September 26th, 2025 to October 29th, 2025, the Flight Calibration Center has completed all the contents of the flight calibration and flight method evaluation at Long Thanh International Airport.

This activity carries both technical significance and special legal value, playing a decisive role in the overall acceptance of the project, and at the same time affirming the professional capacity and effective coordination spirit of the Vietnamese aviation industry on its path toward deep international integration.

From October 26th, 2025 to October 29th, 2025, the second phase of inspection and calibration flights will focus on synchronously testing the capacity of modern surveillance systems and equipment, Primary/Secondary Radar (PSR/SSR) and Automatic Dependent Surveillance System (ADS-B) installed at Long Thanh Airport as well as flight evaluation of the capacity and monitoring capabilities of the systems on both ends of Runway 1 (05R/23L) which have been completed.

Experts from the Czech Republic Air Navigation Academy, the partner implementing and carrying out the inspection and calibration flights at Long Thanh International Airport, highly appreciated the international cooperation environment, the systematic process, the spirit of learning and the technical level of the Vietnamese expert team. The required standards of the Radar and ADS-B systems all meet or exceed the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Europe, meeting the conditions for commercial exploitation at the regional and international levels.

In addition, during the period of the second phase of the calibration test flight, the flight operation coordination plans between key units such as the Southern Air Traffic Management Company, the Air Traffic Flow Management Center, the Aviation Information Center, the Aviation Meteorological Center, the Long Thanh Project Management Board, and the 370th Air Force Division were ensured to comply with the signed minutes of the contract before the flight.

The equipment, personnel, flight operation plans, and emergency response plans were carried out in absolute safety in the airspace with high flight density as well as strict requirements on separation, time and frequency of continuous operation in the Ho Chi Minh Flight Information Region (FIR).

The completion of the flight inspection and technical calibration in Long Thanh was highly appreciated by aviation industry leaders and international experts, demonstrating the political determination, proactive spirit, responsibility and professionalism of the parties involved.
