Through the half the term of the 16th Congress (2020-2026), the Party Committee of Tuy Hoa city (Phu Yen) has achieved encouraging results. In particular, with the goal of bringing the city towards meeting the criteria of a first-class city directly under the province by 2025, the Party Committee, authorities and people of the city have been making efforts to build a green, clean and friendly city. Building a green and friendly city
According to Tuy Hoa Municipal Party Secretary Huynh Lu Tan, to develop Tuy Hoa city in the future, the Phu Yen Provincial Party issued Resolution No. 09-NQ/TU on August 18, 2021, accordingly, Phu Yen province will build and develop Tuy Hoa city into a dynamic, green, clean, friendly and sustainable urban area. The Phu Yen Provincial Standing Committee is determined to develop Tuy Hoa into a green, clean, beautiful, environmentally friendly and sustainable city, adapting to climate change.
Accordingly, the goal of building Tuy Hoa is to make the city one of the transportation junctions, and training, tourism, and industrial centres in the South Central Coast and the Central Highlands, and the driving force for the socio-economic development of Phu Yen province. The governing body and the people of Tuy Hoa city are focusing on investment in construction, development and expansion of urban space, step by step meeting the criteria of an urban area, so that by 2025 Tuy Hoa city will be eligible to be recognized as a first-class city directly under the province.
Implementing Resolution No. 09-NQ/TU of the Phu Yen Provincial Party Committee and Action Program No. 14-CTr/TU, dated October 7, 2021 of Tuy Hoa Municipal Party, the City People's Committee has directed and allocated resources in order to build and upgrade Tuy Hoa city to meet the criteria of a first-class urban area under Phu Yen province by 2025 and has so far achieved some outstanding results such as: the Tuy Hoa city development programme in the period of 2021 to 2025, with a vision to 2030, which is about to be completed; Regulations on the management and usage of beaches and seas in the city; the Smart City Operations Centre (IOC) has officially operated from November 2022…
Besides, urban service constructions are receiving more and more attention, green parks are being developed to be modern and highly aesthetic. A series of well-invested parks and green tree systems not only makes this city spacious but also affirms the orientation of developing Tuy Hoa to become a sustainably green city in the future. For example, Youth park, Nguyen Hue park, Ho Son balancing lake, coastal park, the western park of the aTelevision centre in Phu Yen, etc, and the aVan Kiep parka project are currently being deployed.
During the past half term, Tuy Hoa city has also seen investment with many new large-scale public constructions such as a coastal park, Ho Son park combined with anti-flooding balancing lake, Bao Dai river embankment, Nhan cultural park, the Southern Tuy Hoa city urban area, anf the overpass connecting railway no. 2 in the new Southern Tuy Hoa city urban area. A series of green parks systems have been built in order to create a green and modern urban area. The construction has been being implemented and ensured to follow the planning and quality according to the correct orientation.
Tuy Hoa has a coastline stretching over 30km, as well as many beautiful and unspoiled landscapes, relics, beautiful landscapes and high-class accommodation and resorts, these grants this city a strength to develop its tourism service industry. Tuy Hoa is implementing solutions in a synchronous manner to turn service tourism into a major economic sector of the province by 2030. In early 2023, Tuy Hoa city was voted as one of the 10 friendliest provinces and cities in Vietnam by Booking.com.
Towards a smart, modern city
Tuy Hoa city not only focuses on investing in building green, clean and friendly urban infrastructure but also actively participates in the national digital transformation process in all three aspects: digital government, digital economy, and digital society.
Specifically, from November 2022, Tuy Hoa city has put the Smart City Operations Center (Tuy Hoa IOC) into operation. This is considered as the smart city's brain, having the function of collecting and analysing information, supporting the direction, management and administration of city leaders quickly, efficiently and transparently.
Thanks to the system of about 300 traffic and security cameras, the Tuy Hoa IOC helps detect cases of traffic violations, acts of vandalism and theft of public construction items in the inner city. This system also helps automatically control smart lighting systems to reduce power consumption and save electricity for public lighting.
This also helps local leaders in supervising and operating socio-economic issues, observing public services and also the health sector by monthly and quarterly collecting statistical data on health, medical examination and treatment and socio-economic targets. The Tuy Hoa IOC not only helps authorities in work management and processing but also acts as a connector through two-way interaction for the public to feed back to state agencies, as well as sending thoughts and aspirations to the city's leaders and administrations.
After a period of operating, the IOC Tuy Hoa has received thousands of complaints and suggestions from citizens and visitors. All comments are accepted and handled quickly and promptly by the IOC Tuy Hoa, helping enhance people's satisfaction. In 2022, the level of people's satisfaction about treatment reflected through the Tuy Hoa IOC reached 91% and increased to 98% in the beginning of 2023.
Along with that, Tuy Hoa city is also making efforts to implement activities and projects to build a smart and modern city. Typically, in early 2023, Tuy Hoa city's crematorium was put into operation, meeting the needs of civilised and economical burials and making an important contribution to environmental protection. This is one of the important criteria to bring Tuy Hoa towards becoming a first-class city. By April 2023, the Women's Union of Phu Yen province had collaborated with the Global Environment Fund to implement the project "Building and testing a green transport model", thereby contributing to building a green, smart and sustainable Tuy Hoa city.
In the long term, Tuy Hoa city is giving its best effort to building the image of a livable city and becoming one of the cleanest cities in the region and the whole country. In particular, building Tuy Hoa towards meeting the criteria of a first-class urban area is an important stepping stone for Tuy Hoa city to accomplish this goal.
