The 4th Congress of the Vietnam - Slovakia Friendship Association (under the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations) term 2023-2028 took place in Hanoi on April 15th.

The Vietnam-Slovakia Friendship Association was established in 1997, operating under the direction, guidance, support and inspection of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations. There are 1400 members across the country, including former students, researchers, apprentices, workers, officials and diplomats who have studied and worked in Czechoslovakia ago and Slovakia today.

Over the past term, the Vietnam - Slovakia Friendship Association has actively implemented many practical and diverse activities and achieved many important results, contributed to promoting the growing friendship between the two countries. In particular, the Association has focused on building and strengthening a good and regular cooperative relationship with the Embassy of Slovakia in Hanoi in organizing many foreign activities of the two sides.

The Congress agreed that, in the new term, the Association will cooperate with Slovak Language Teaching Centers and Centers for Organization of Study Abroad, improving Vietnam’s existing professional skills to promote cooperation between the two countries in the field of education and training; seeking non-governmental aid from the Slovak Republic and the European Union to carry out supporting projects in education - training, culture, science and technology projects; overcoming the consequences of Agent Orange dioxin. The Association continues to improve the quality and effectiveness of peace, solidarity and friendship activities; promote exchange of delegations; coordinate with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovakia and partners to organize exchange, connection and investment cooperation activities…

The Congress elected a new Executive Board of 58 members. Former Deputy Minister of Construction Le Quang Hung was elected to hold the position of Chairman of the Vietnam - Slovakia Friendship Association, term IV, 2023-2028 tenure.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Giang awarded certificates of merit to 5 individuals who have made many contributions to people's diplomacy.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations presented the Vietnam – Slovakia Friendship Association a souvenir flag with the words “Active, flexible, creative and effective”; awarded the Medal “For peace and friendship among nations” to 5 individuals, awarded the Certificate of Merit to 5 individuals who have made many contributions to people’s diplomacy.

Speaking at the Congress, the new Chairman of the Vietnam - Slovakia Friendship Association Le Quang Hung expressed his honor to receive high trust, and said he would work with members in the Executive Board to build and develop a strong Vietnam - Slovakia Friendship Association, further promoting the friendly cooperative relations between the two countries Vietnam and Slovakia.
