Nguyen Thanh Nghi - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Construction had a meeting and worked with a high-ranking delegation of the Dominican Republic’s United Left Movement (MIU) led by MIU General Secretary and Minister of Regional Integration Policies of the Dominican Republic, Miguel Mejia, on February 22nd.
General Secretary Miguel Mejia thanked Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi and leaders of units under the Ministry of Construction for warm welcome and said that, he had a meeting with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong and worked with a number of ministries and localities.

Mr Miguel Mejia impressed with the results of cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba under the cooperation mechanism of the Intergovernmental Committee. He also proposed to further strengthen the cooperation relationship between the Dominican Republic and the Ministry of Construction in particular, the Government of Vietnam in general under the cooperation mechanism of the Intergovernmental Commission similar to the Vietnam–Cuba Intergovernmental Commission.
In the proposed areas of cooperation with the Ministry of Construction, General Secretary Miguel Mejia emphasized Dominicana's interest in the production of building materials, including the cooperation with VIGLACERA Corporation- JSC. According to him, the President of the Dominican Republic has met with VIGLACERA representatives many times and desired to promote cooperation between the two sides. He also believed that investment attraction mechanisms and policies would create favorable conditions for VIGLACERA and Vietnamese businesses invest and cooperate with Dominican partners.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi expressed his pleasure to welcome General Secretary of the Dominican Republic’s United Left Movement Miguel Mejia and delegate to visit and work with the Ministry of Construction. According to Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi, in the past years, the Ministry of Construction has always expanded cooperation with partners from Latin American countries, including the Dominican Republic, and is expected to further strengthen the cooperation between the two sides in the near future.
Regarding the proposal to strengthen the relationship and cooperation between the Dominican Republic and the Ministry of Construction in particular, the Government of Vietnam in general under the cooperation mechanism of the Intergovernmental Committee, the Ministry of Construction will report to the competent authority for consideration.
At the meeting, General Secretary Miguel Mejia cordially invited Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi to arrange a time to visit and work with Dominican partners in the coming time. Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi thanked Mr Miguel Mejia’s invitation and would arrange time and work to visit and work with agencies and partners of the Dominican Republic in order to deepen the cooperation relationship between the two sides.
