During the reception, Vice Chairman Hung spoke highly of the technological solutions on waste treatment put forward by various Finnish businesses, noting that the solutions proposed are both effective and suitable for the volume of waste encountered in Hanoi.

The capital has approximately 8,000 tons of waste that need to be treated daily, whilst this figure is expected to increase in the future due to population growth and the development of production activities, he said.

The Vice Chairman added that the city is still facing challenges in classifying garbage before it is due to be collected.

In the near future, Hanoi will encourage businesses, especially those able to turn organic waste into biogas to continue investing in the capital.

The city is willing to assist Finnish businesses in  locating land necessary to start the project when it comes to building a waste treatment line.

In addition, pledges have been made to firms from the Scandinavian nation to provide quality assistance in terms of procedures, transport links, and land clearance so enterprises can implement projects in a fast and effective manner.

Ambassador Kahiluoto, in turn, affirmed Finland’s readiness to share their experience in urban waste treatment with Hanoi, whilst also expressing a desire to hear about the city’s experience in the current solid waste treatment process.

The Finnish diplomat is also keen to know what contributions Finnish businesses can make to Hanoi in the field of waste management.

During the reception, Finnish businesses made recommendations on waste treatment solutions, shared their best waste treatment models, and information about technologies applicable to Hanoi.
