Hung Yen city completes new-style rural building programme

The northern city of Hung Yen in Hung Yen province held a ceremony on August 30 to celebrate its 10th founding anniversary (2009-2019) and receive a certificate for having fulfilled the new-style rural building mission.

The event was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC), and Head of the PCC Economic Commission, Nguyen Van Binh; Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh; leaders of ministries, sectors, cities and provinces in the region.

Addressing the ceremony, Politburo member Nguyen Van Binh applauded efforts and achievements made by the city’s Party Committee, authorities and people over the past years.

He emphasised the importance of building a beautiful, prosperous and modern city, thus asking the city’s Party Committee, authorities and people to promote solidarity and exert further effort to boost economic development, maintain defence and security and improve the livelihood of residents.

At the event, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh also presented the Government’s certificate to Hung Yen city’s authorities and people in recognition of their excellent contributions to the national construction and defence.

According to Chairman of Hung Yen city People’s Committee, Nguyen Tuan Cuong, over the past decade, Hung Yen city has attained an annual economic growth rate of over 11.8%.

The city’s economic structure has seen a positive shift with the increase of the proportion of industry, service, tourism and construction sectors, as well as a decrease in agriculture.

The city's authorities has paid due attention to upgrading its traffic network and improving infrastructure with a total investment of more than VND3.5 trillion, five times higher than 2009.

Notably, all of the ten communes in the city have been recognised as new-style rural areas.
