In 21st century, the urbanization rate in Vietnam has rapid increased with a million urban habitants 1 more for each year in average. The number of urban areas has increased to nearly 3 new urban areas each month. Up to June 20152, there are 778 towns in whole country, in which there are 2 special cities, 15 cities grade I, 24 cities grade II, 43 cities grade III, 74 towns and cities grade IV and 620 towns and cities grade V, the urbanization rate achieves 35,2%. The urban system of Vietnam has  been more and more developed with quietly equal allocation in whole country and as well as forming 2 growth regions such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh in the North and the South. Da nang, Can Tho and Hai Phong have become centers of the regions. The urban system has contributed over 70% GDP of whole country that make Vietnam to become an average-income country.
