The houses were built from the capital mobilised by the former president. Each house is supported with VND50 million, in addition to additional funds from the local authorities and households to build houses. So far, all the gratitude houses have been completed to the joy of the veterans’ families.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sang emphasised that the Party and State always care for and help policy families and people in border areas who are still facing multiple difficulties in rising in life. Local people in the border areas are happy, the frontier is strong, and the rear is also assured to build a prosperous country, the former State leader stressed.

He also urged Ha Giang to continue to gather statistics on the number of veterans’ families with difficulties related to housing, in order to continue mobilising appropriate funding from relevant organisations and individuals to support them in building houses.

Sang expressed his wish that the donors would promote the nation’s fine tradition of "drinking water, remembering its source" to provide more support for policy families with difficult circumstances to rise up in life.

On the same day, Sang also visited Vi Xuyen National Martyrs’ Cemetery, offering incense to martyrs who had sacrificed their lives in the 1979 fight to protect the northern border in Vi Xuyen district. He also offered 100 gifts to policy beneficiaries and disadvantaged households in Quan Ba district.
