Politburo member Binh made the statement while addressing an investment promotion conference, themed “Dak Lak’s potential – Businesses’ opportunities”, held by the provincial People’s Committee in Buon Ma Thuot city on March 10.

According to the deputy PM, Dak Lak is the metropolis of coffee in the Central Highlands region and a key locality for the development of industrial plants. Besides, the province also possesses huge potential for the development of the processing industry, the renewable energy industry, tourism and services, he said.

However, it is undeniable that Dak Lak is still a disadvantaged locality in the fields of culture, health care, education, infrastructure, human resources and investment attraction, while currently facing big challenges posed by climate change and limited resources for development, the official added.

He urged the province to continue the improvement of the business climate, the enhancement of its competitiveness and support for enterprises, accelerate the reduction of procedures and costs to attract investors, especially strategic investors, and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship.

Warning of the huge climate change challenges, Deputy PM Binh asked Dak Lak to use water resources and land economically in service of long-term development, in addition to taking appropriate steps to cope with climate change.

He affirmed that the Government will research suitable policies and mechanisms to help the Central Highlands region as a whole, and Dak Lak in particular, to maximise their resources, strongly improve the investment environment, and make effective use of cooperation and support from development partners and investors, both at home and abroad.
