September 30, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Construction in collaboration with the World Bank (WB) celebrated the launch ofNationalUrban Development Programme based on the results for the northern mountainous region.
This is a specific step program "National Urban Development in period 2012-2020" and "The National Urban Upgrading (NUUP) for the period 2009-2020" was approved by the Prime Minister.
Earlier, on July 17, 2014, the financing agreements "Urban Program Northern Mountain" was signed between the Government of Vietnam and the International Development Association (the World Bank) with loans valued $ 250 million for the period 2015-2021.
This capital is invested to improve urban infrastructure, environmental sanitation and improve living standards for people to develop economic and social sustainability in cities and towns of the 7 provinces includes northern mountainous Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang and Yen Bai.
Along with that, the program will contribute to capacity building for policy planning, capacity planning, planning, urban management ... for local governments.
The program will create conditions for the urban northern mountainous planning, implementation and maintenance of investment services infrastructure priorities through the system and the capacity is enhanced with the support of Ministry construction.
And support infrastructure investment choice in urban northern mountainous with active capacity management during program implementation.
